What is Reflexology?

No it’s not just massaging the feet, it is so much more.

Reflexology is an ancient therapy that has been practised for over 5000 years. It is a non-intrusive complimentary therapy that is based on the theory that different points on the feet, face and hands correspond with different areas of the body and that working on these reflex points helps to aid with relaxation and with reducing the negative effects of stress on the body, helping to improve overall well-being.

Reflexology can be enjoyed and of help to men, women, children of all ages. Studies have shown that the benefits of reflexology may help you to:

Reduce stress levels
Aid physical and mental well-being
Boost energy
Improve circulation
Help ease symptoms of stress & anxiety
Induce relaxation
Strengthen the immune system

What is Ear/Auricular Reflexology?

Ear/Auricular Reflexology is a healing treatment that stimulates reflex points on the ear that correspond to different parts of the body and is based on a combination of traditional Chinese Acupuncture and Auriculotherapy, developed in France by Dr Paul Nogier in the 1950’s.
However over the last 40 or so years, pioneering work by Chinese doctors has led to the World Health Organisation authorising the standardisation of the touch therapy points on the ear in 1990.

How does it Work?

Our Ears represent the whole body and every ear is unique and no two are alike - our ears are like the fingerprints and can be read to reveal our inner nature.

The points for ear reflexology are similar to those in auricular therapy (ear acupuncture) and like Foot and Facial Reflexology,
Auricular Reflexology/Ear Reflexology is a treatment that works through the stimulation of the external part of the ear, stimulating those points on the ear that correspond to different parts of the body.

There are over 200 acu-points on the ear which are used in Chinese Acupuncture. In Auricular/Ear Reflexology a selection of these points are used and instead of using needles, seeds or magnets, the points are stimulated using finger and thumb pressure.

The ear is supplied by numerous nerves and this wonderful and relaxing treatment works by directly stimulating the central nervous system, bringing balance to the area that is being worked either through an increase or decrease of energy.
It provides a quick and easy way for you to massage pressure points on your ear to treat aches and pains throughout the body and is a very effective treatment for offering pain relief for musculoskeletal problems – conditions such as frozen shoulder, as well as balancing the whole of the body.

While Auricular reflexology is not as well-known as foot or hand reflexology, its popularity is increasing.

It can be particularly helpful for the relief and management of pain and because the ears are easily accessible, you do not have to remove any clothing to receive a treatment

Like other forms of Reflexology, Auricular/Ear Reflexology is a standalone therapy or it can be used within a reflexology session to compliment the foot, hand, face reflexology treatment.

Can I have a Ear Reflexology treatment?

Auricular/Ear Reflexology can be used in all age groups (children to the elderly). As with any reflexology treatment it is most beneficial when it is administered regularly, i.e. once or twice a week. Most clients find that having their ears worked is deeply relaxing and stimulating at the same time.

What can I expect the first time I have a Reflexology treatment?

At your first treatment I take a full medical history consultation and we discuss how Reflexology can help you. You and your needs are at the heart of all my treatments. Working together from the start ensures that you are involved with every aspect of your treatments.
Consent forms are signed and your treatment takes place.
All of your data and information is stored securely and I never share your data with anyone else.

Foot Reflexology is a very easy treatment to receive as only shoes and socks are removed for treatment.
I use the following products either grapeseed oil or scented and unscented Reflexology Waxes depending on your preferences. For example my daughter doesn't like the feel of oil on her feet and prefers me to use Reflexology wax on her feet.

For my Facial Reflexology (Bergman Method) and Zone Face Lift treatments I use Super Facialist cleansers, scrubs, facial masks for sensitive skin and the award winning Zone Face Lift Facial Oil Elixir.

If you have very sensitive skin and prefer me to use your own facial products in your treatments I am happy to do so.
